The LGBTQ Dinner Club meets monthly to enjoy a meal and build our community. We meet for two hours, listen to a special guest, talk about issues that matter to us, and eat some delicious food. We've had anywhere from 10 to 40 guests for Dinner Club, but we’ve always had enough food! Our October guest, Cayden Mak (on left), talked about his activism around student justice and LBGTQ issues. We use compostable flatware, utensils, and cups to reduce our environmental impact. All of our meals conform to the USDA’s MyPlate guidelines for healthy eating.Make sure to leave room for dessert! Our GA makes a mean fruit crisp.Dinner Club is a great place to meet new people and interact with them in a safe, comfortable environment.Dinner Club is also a great way to spend time with friends you’ve already made in UB’s LGBTQ community.Whether this is your first LGBTQ-themed event or you’ve been around for years, you can always find someone to talk with at Dinner Club.In addition to socializing, you can also network and meet contacts for your academic and professional life at Dinner Club.If you’d like to attend a future meeting of the LGBTQ Dinner Club, contact Jim Bowman or Josh Cerretti at well-ublgbtq@vpsa.buffalo.edu.LGBTQ Dinner Club will meet during the Spring 2013 semester on January 16, February 13, March 20, and April 17.A good meal and a great community brings out everyone’s biggest smiles. For Homecoming Weekend, the LGBTQ Team at Wellness Education Services hosted a Family Social. We invited students to bring both their families of origin and their families of choice to the event. Some of our team members put together a photobooth for family portraits. We lounged in the relaxation suite, enjoyed some refreshments, and met each other’s families. It was great to meet people’s parents and also to show those parents what we do in the LGBTQ Wellness Team. The Family Social brought together people from many different backgrounds who are proud to members of and allies to the LGBTQ community.
